The Philadelphia Phillies started their 2022 postseason with a last-minute comeback victory over the St. Louis Cardinals to kick off a Cinderella run to the World Series. The final dance set of the ball has arrived, but they proved they still have the magic touch by stealing Game 1 from the Houston Astros, Houston’s first postseason defeat of 2022.

The visitors found themselves in a deep hole after the Astros scored five runs in the first two innings. The big blow came on a three-run bomb by Kyle Tucker in the 3rd inning, his second homer of the game.

Tucker would not hit any more home runs.
Philadelphia responded in the 4th inning, scoring three runs to climb back within striking distance.
J.T. Realmuto was the biggest hero of the night for Philly, driving in the tying run with a 5th inning RBI double and the go-ahead run on a 10th inning solo shot just past the right field fence.

Robertson retired the side in a wild 10th inning. With runners at second and third and two outs, home plate umpire James Hoye declined to award Aledmys DÃaz first base after determining DÃaz leaned into Robertson’s 2-0 slider. DÃaz grounded out to end the game on a 5-3 putout two pitches later.
The Astros are frequently referred to as a baseball Death Star, but Phillies have played the role of the plucky rebels this postseason. Can they finish the Evil Empire? Game 2 will start at 8:03 PM ET on Saturday. The probable pitchers are Zack Wheeler (postseason: 1-1, 1.78 ERA) and Framber Valdez (postseason: 1-0, 1.42 ERA).
