The home team took an early lead on a three-run bomb by Yuli Gurriel, and the visitors remained behind for the entire game until DJ LeMahieu tied the game with a two-run homer in the top of the 9th.
In the bottom of the inning, the Yankees brought in closer Aroldis Chapman to hold the line, but he surrendered a two-run game-winning blast to José Altuve to clinch the AL pennant.
Altuve was named the series MVP and is the first second baseman to win both regular-season MVP and postseason MVP honors.
The Astros will host the Washington Nationals for Game 1 of the 2019 World Series at 8:08 PM ET on Tuesday, October 22. Matchup: TBD.
