Raptors Sweep Nets, Advance to 2nd Round

Handmade straw broom

After securing their first-ever 3-0 series lead on Friday, the #2 seed Toronto Raptors had a chance to get their first playoff series sweep against the #7 Brooklyn Nets on Sunday.

After an early injury to six-time All-Star point guard Kyle Lowry, the Raptors needed a lift from their bench. Norman Powell and Serge Ibaka delivered, scoring 56 out of an NBA record 100 bench points. The Raptors would defeat the Nets by a score of 150 to 122, a franchise record for points scored.

Lowry is to undergo an MRI on the arch of his foot. If his condition is serious, he could miss the next series against the Boston Celtics, which will make an already tough test for Toronto even more difficult.

The Raptors will resume action on Thursday, August 27. The next set will be their first-ever playoff series against the hated Boston franchise.

In the meantime, Toronto fans will be awaiting further reports on Lowry’s health status with bated breath.
