It is becoming increasingly likely that the MLB season will start around one month late. This length of cancellation represents a very sweet spot for owners: they can cut players’ pay for games missed while still receiving the full value of their TV contracts, as most of this money is tied to the end of the regular season and playoffs.
That's the play here. Get the full 6/6 from RSNs but only pay 5/6 of the cost of the season. It's a 16.67% raise in profitability by maintaining the lockout through April.
Sure, they're locking out the players, but they're also scamming their TV partners at the same time. /end— (((EugeneFreedman))) (@EugeneFreedman) March 3, 2022
Fans interested in watching spring baseball will need to turn elsewhere.
The Liga Mexicana de Beisbol (Mexican Baseball League – LMB, in Spanish), a member league of Minor League Baseball (MiLB), is scheduled to open its regular season on April 21. The reigning champion Toros de Tijuana will host the Diablos Rojos del México, the league’s leader in championship titles.
Regular season games will take place seven days per week, ending on August 7. Postseason play will begin on August 9 in four stages: first playoff series; zone series; zone championship series and Serie del Rey championship series.
A streaming pass for the 2022 LMB season is available for US$49.99 through Jonron.TV, a platform developed by Stream Viral. Select “RegÃstrate”, then “Comprar Ahora” to open an account. You will need to provide your full name and email address, select a favorite team and create a password to set up your account by clicking “Continuar.” After creating your account, you will next provide your credit card details to authorize the $49.99 subscription payment.
If you can’t wait until April, full games and highlights from the 2021 season are also available. Play ball!
