Division Series Matchups Begin Today
MLB playoff contenders have been narrowed down to eight teams following the opening Wild Card round of sixteen. Two #6 seeds remain, the Houston Astros and the Miami Marlins. Neither of these teams will face the two #1 seeds, the Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Dodgers, raising the question of whether reseeding should be added if the expanded playoff format is adopted for future seasons.
Division Series action begins this afternoon with the American League matchup between the #6 Houston Astros and #2 Oakland Athletics at 4:07 PM ET, followed by the #5 New York Yankees at the #1 Rays at 8:07 PM ET.
