I Said There’s No Puking in Baseball, Godammit!

Over one year after the strange spectacle at Miller Park when then-reliever Adrian Houser of the Milwaukee Brewers tossed fastballs and cookies TWO TIMES against the Philadelphia Phillies, it happened AGAIN in the Brewers’ 3-2 victory over the Texas Rangers on Saturday.

With two outs in the first inning, Houser failed to pick up a comebacker hit by INF Elvis Andrus, allowing Andrus to reach first base. Houser then felt ill and puked behind the mound as he did last June. Following a visit by manager Craig Counsell for a water break, Houser went on to strike out INF Rougned Odor to end the inning.

According to Jomboy, Houser’s puke and rally now qualifies as some sort of “intimidation technique” as he finished with a line of one run allowed on three hits with ten strikeouts and one walk in 6.0 IP to record the victory. What’s next – the return of the spitball?

While last year’s episode was blamed on “over-hydration“, Houser had no explanation following Saturday’s game, saying that “it just snuck up on me.” Hopefully he figures out what went wrong to prevent another recurrence, since this type of hurling isn’t the kind fans are paying money to see.
