MLB News Potpourri: Tulowitzki and Stroman Out, Tebow Gets Cut, “Dexter’s Sexters”
A lot of big news hit the MLB this week, including Jake Arrieta signing with Philadelphia, as well as controversial facial expressions during the Houston Astros’ visit to the White House. Here are a few items you may have missed:
-
- Blue Jays’ Injury Woes Continue. As I speculated in a prior post, both SP Marcus Stroman (right shoulder inflammation) and SS Troy Tulowitzki (right heel bone spur) have been ruled out from appearing for the Jays on Opening Day. This is obviously not good news for a club hoping to contend for a Wild Card spot this season.
- Tebow Cut from Mets Camp. The baseball gods have heard my pleas! Jesus-humping former NFL quarterback cum minor-league OF Tim Tebow has been cut from the Mets’ big-league camp after hitting .056 in Grapefruit League play with 11 strikeouts over 19 plate appearances. However, he will be joining the Mets minor-league camp and threatening to make a major-league appearance since the Mets don’t have much else going for them and are happy to humor an aging athlete for the sake of publicity.
- Fowler Moving to Right. On a final note, Cardinals OF Dexter Fowler is expecting to be moved to right field from his customary position in center. He took to Twitter to solicit fans’ opinions on his ideas about what he should call his new home, including this gem:
