World Series Game 4: Atlanta Comes Back with Back-to-Back Jacks
After Friday night’s shutout victory to gain a 2-1 advantage in the 2021 World Series, the Atlanta Baseball Team hosted the second of three games at Truist Park on Saturday night. Former US President Donald Trump was in attendance to join in with the home crowd’s racist “tomahawk chop” cheer after claiming he was invited by Commissioner Rob Manfred and New York Yankees president Randy Levine. MLB officials later denied this version of events, confirming a statement from Atlanta CEO Terry McGuirk that Trump had contacted MLB and requested to attend the game. In other words, he had invited himself.
The last time Trump attended a World Series game was during his term of office. He was booed by Washington Nationals fans at Game 5 of the 2019 World Series, greeting his appearance on the Nationals Park video board with chants of “Lock him up.”

The Astros loaded the bases in the 1st inning but came away with only one run on a Carlos Correa groundout to 3rd. Kyle Wright, who replaced starter Dylan Lee, worked out of the jam and worked 4.2 innings. Wright allowed one run and struck out three Houston batters.
Houston added another run on José Altuve‘s solo homer in the 4th inning. He now has 23 career postseason home runs, second on the all-time MLB leaderboard.
Austin Riley got Atlanta on the board in the 6th inning with an RBI single.
In the 7th inning, Javier retired Adam Duvall with a swinging strikeout and had Dansby Swanson behind with an 0-2 count on three straight sliders before serving up a 95 mph fastball down the middle for a game-tying home run. Pinch-hitter Jorge Soler stepped in after Swanson and lined a hanging slider into the left field bullpen for a go-ahead back-to-back jack.
With two outs in the 8th inning, Altuve gave a Luke Jackson slider a long ride to the left field wall, where a running Eddie Rosario made a backhanded grab to end the inning.

Smith recorded a 1-2-3 9th inning for his second save of the series and Atlanta’s third victory.
