Division Series Day 4 Wrap-Up
Thursday’s rain delay pushed Game 2 of the series between the Cleveland Guardians and New York Yankees to Friday, giving fans a full slate of baseball to start the weekend. While the middle game between Atlanta and Philadelphia was a blowout, the other two matchups were low-scoring nailbiters.

After Amed Rosario homered to tie the game in the 5th inning, the score remained tied at two runs until the 10th inning. Cleveland broke through for two runs thanks to a couple of bloopers to the outfield. Ã?scar González drove in the go-ahead run with a single to score José RamÃrez, and Josh Naylor added an insurance run with a double to center field.
Philadelphia leads series 2-1
WP: Aaron Nola
LP: Spencer Strider
The Phillies erupted for six runs in the 3rd inning against Strider and his replacement Dylan Lee. Rhys Hoskins‘ three-run screaming blast to left field was the big blow. Nola’s quality start for the home team was backed by scoreless relief.
San Diego leads series 2-1
WP: Blake Snell
LP: Tony Gonsolin
S: Josh Hader
Snell’s performance brought back memories of his 2020 World Series Game 6 performance. This time, he was backed up by shutdown relief. Trent Grisham has gotten off to a hot start in the postseason after struggling throughout the regular season campaign. His two-run bomb to right field in the 4th inning supplied all the runs the Padres staff would need.
Saturday will bring a full lineup of four games for the first time since the Division Series round opened on Tuesday. Atlanta and Philadelphia will open play at 2:07 PM ET. Houston visits Seattle for the Mariners’ first postseason game at home since 2001 at 4:07 PM ET. Cleveland will host New York at 7:37 PM ET for the prime-time matchup, followed by Los Angeles vs. San Diego at 9:37 PM ET for the nightcap.
