Division Series Day 6: Elimination Slate
Today’s MLB Division Series schedule featured three elimination games, including Monday’s postponed White Sox and Astros game. Would anyone be sent packing, or would a team manage to force a decisive Game 5?
Astros win series 3-1

I can’t say the White Sox were outclassed in this series, since the Astros don’t have any class, but the White Sox were clearly outmatched.
The Sox took an early lead on Gavin Sheets‘s solo home run, but Rodón exited after allowing a two-run double to Carlos Correa in the 3rd inning. The bullpen were unable to quiet the Astros bats, and Houston tallied 10 runs on 14 hits.
The American League Championship Series matchup between Boston and Houston will be disappointing to say the least.
Atlanta wins series 3-1

The opposing teams matched one another blow-for-blow in the middle innings. With the game knotted at 4 runs apiece in the 8th inning, reigning MVP Freddie Freeman dispatched a 83.6 mph Hader slider into center field to give Atlanta a 5-4 lead.
Smith recorded the save to eliminate Milwaukee, punching Atlanta’s ticket to the National League Championship Series for the second consecutive season.
With a regular season team OPS of .713, ranked 20th in MLB, Milwaukee lacked the firepower that it possessed during Christian Yelich‘s 2018 MVP season.
Dodgers 7, Giants 2

Facing elimination, Dave Roberts tapped Walker Buehler to start on three days’ rest for the first time in his MLB career. Buehler delivered 4.1 innings of work, allowing one run on three hits. The Dodgers had already scored four runs for him before he exited, including a two-run homer by Mookie Betts. Betts went 2-4 in the game with one run scored and three RBI.
The Giants were unable to muster up much offense and manager Gabe Kapler opted to save his most trusted arms for a do-or-die Game 5 on Thursday. San Francisco will host the decisive battle at Oracle Park starting at 9:07 PM ET. Julio Urías (20-6, 2.96 ERA) is expected to face Logan Webb (11-3, 3.03 ERA).
