LA Sets Postseason Record, Astros Avoid Sweep
The Atlanta baseball club and the Tampa Bay Rays entered Wednesday’s games undefeated, with the Rays just one win from advancing to their second World Series appearance. After a near-comeback on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers were looking for a victory to get back into the National League Championship Series.

Wright proved to be much less of a challenge for LA hitters than Max Fried and Ian Anderson. The Dodgers tallied 11 runs in the 1st inning, setting a record for the most scored in any inning of a postseason game. Wright only recorded two outs, allowing seven runs on five hits, including two home runs. The next man out, Grant Dayton, did not fare much better. He allowed eight runs on eight hits, three of which were home runs. Five Dodgers had dingers. Max Muncy capped off the 1st inning hit parade with a grand slam to right center field. The Dodgers went on to score four more times in the early innings and cruised to a blowout victory.
Game 4 of the series airs tomorrow night starting at 8:08 PM. Matchups: Clayton Kershaw (6-2, 2.16 ERA) vs. Bryse Wilson (1-0, 4.02 ERA).

José Altuve hit another solo shot in the 1st inning and gave the Astros an early 2-0 lead with his RBI double in the 3rd. Rays rookie sensation Randy Arozarena tied the game with a two-run bomb in the 4th, but George Springer drove in the winning runs for Houston with a two-run homer in the 5th.
The Rays staged a comeback attempt in the 9th inning, scoring one run on Willy Adames’s double, but Yoshi Tsutsugo lined out to end the game, stranding the tying run in scoring position. With the victory, the Astros avoided being swept out of the playoffs like the trash they are. They survive until 5:07 PM ET tomorrow. Pitching matchups remain TBD.
