LCS Round Day 4: Slammin’ Sox
The Houston Astros met the Boston Red Sox for Game 3 of the American League Championship Series on Monday night. With the series tied at one game apiece, who would take control?

After a 1-2-3 1st inning, Urquidy worked into a jam in the 2nd inning, loading the bases with one out. Christian Vázquez opened the scoring with an RBI single. J.D. Martinez scored on a ground ball that bounced up the middle and off the chest of José Altuve for the second Boston run.
Kyle Schwarber provided the big blow of the inning and the game with a grand slam to right field.
This was Boston’s third grand slam of the series, a MLB record for grand slams in a postseason series. They have also tied the 1998 Atlanta ballclub for most grand slams in a single postseason.

You may remember that their two grand slams in Game 2 of the ALCS set a record for grand slams hit by a team in a single postseason game.
The Red Sox cruised to an easy victory. Astros manager Dusty Baker will have some tough decisions to make about how long a leash to give his pitchers in Game 4 on Tuesday night. Zack Greinke (regular season – 11-6, 4.16 ERA), who has only pitched twice in the last month, is scheduled to pitch opposite Nick Pivetta (regular season – 9-8, 4.53 ERA) at 8:08 PM.
The NLCS resumes on Tuesday in Los Angeles. Gametime will be 5:08 PM ET. Charlie Morton (regular season – 14-6, 3.34 ERA) will face Walker Buehler (regular season – 16-4, 2.47 ERA).
