The semifinal round of the MLB Playoffs, better known as the League Championship Series, opened on Friday with the National League matchup. Here is the breakdown of the results as of the final game on Sunday:

Friday, October 11

Nationals 2, Cardinals 0 (box score)

Sánchez allowed no hits through 7.2 IP until PH José Martínez singled to center field in the 8th inning. Doolittle replaced Sánchez and kept the shutout intact for a Nats victory in the series opener.

Saturday, October 12

Scherzer also nearly no-hit the Cards before allowing a single by Paul Goldschmidt to lead off the 7th inning.

Scoring was opened on a solo shot by Michael A. Taylor and Washington added insurance runs with a two-run double by Adam Eaton in the top of the 8th.

Martínez continued to be one of the lone offensive producers for St. Louis in the series with an RBI single in the bottom of the 8th.

The Yanks routed the Astros behind a five RBI effort from Gleyber Torres and four home runs (Torres – 2; Giancarlo Stanton; Gio Urshela).

Sunday, October 13

The Yankees dipped into the pen early on getaway Sunday when, down one run, James Paxton allowed two one-out singles in the top of the 3rd. Aaron Judge gave New York the lead with a two-run bomb in the top of the 4th, answered by George Springer with a game-tying solo homer in the bottom of the 5th.

The Bronx Bombers used a total of nine pitchers to maneuver the game through ten innings until Happ gave up a walkoff blast to Carlos Correa in the bottom of the 11th to tie the series.

National League action resumes today in D.C. with Game 3 at 7:38 PM ET. Matchup: Jack Flaherty (11-8, 2.75 ERA) vs. Stephen Strasburg (18-6, 3.32 ERA).
