Team LeBron Wins NBA All-Star Game on MJ’s Birthday

February 17, 2019 was NBA and Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan’s 56th birthday. It was also the date of the 68th NBA All-Star Game in Charlotte, North Carolina, where one team of competitors was captained by MJ’s biggest rival for the title of best NBA player of all time, LeBron James, currently of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Team LeBron included some of the most highly-decorated players in the NBA, such as Toronto Raptors star small forward Kawhi Leonard, the 2013-14 NBA Finals MVP winner with the San Antonio Spurs.

The competition was Team Giannis, headed by this year’s MVP award favorite, Giannis “The Greek Freak” Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks (fuck Milwaukee now and forever). Team Giannis included longtime Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry, the Raptors franchise Offensive Win Shares, steals and VORP leader.

Sadly, my favorite Raptor, power forward Pascal Siakam, was not selected for this year’s All-Star Game.

Team LeBron fell behind Team Giannis early and trailed by as many as 20 points before rallying in the second half for a 178-164 victory. 10-time All-Star and current defending champion for the Golden State Warriors Kevin Durant led Team LeBron with 31 points, shooting 10-for-15 (6-for-9 from 3-point range) to win his second All-Star Game MVP award.

See below for full game highlights, including plays by Leonard and Lowry.
