LCS Round Day 2: Record Day for Red Sox, Atlanta Walkoff Victory
Weekend League Championship series action continued on Saturday with Game 2 of the American League Championship Series, followed by Game 1 of the National League Championship Series. Kiké Hernández continued his hot streak that has the potential to rival Randy Arozarena‘s incredible 2020 postseason run.

Boston put this game away very early with grand slams in each of the first two frames, setting a MLB postseason record.

The Astros were not able to recover. Eovaldi pitched 5.1 innings, allowing three runs on five hits.
Hernández went 2-4 with two runs scored and one RBI on yet another majestic home run in the 4th inning. This was his fifth home run in as many games. His 2021 postseason OPS is 1.953.
The series is now tied and will head to Boston for the next three games. Game 3 will take place on Monday at 8:08 PM.

Fresh off success in a winner-take-all game against the Giants on Thursday, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts decided to open up the NLCS with another bullpen game. Atlanta used traditional starter Max Fried, who pitched six innings of two-run ball.
Dodgers catcher Will Smith‘s homer against Fried in the 4th inning gave Los Angeles a 2-1 lead.
Austin Riley tied the game in the bottom of the inning with a homer of his own.
The game remained locked up at two runs apiece until the 9th inning. The Dodgers had the go-ahead run on base in the top of the inning after Chris Taylor‘s two-out walk. When Cody Bellinger lined a single into right field, Taylor made an aggressive decision to try to advance to 3rd base on the hit, but got caught in a rundown and was tagged out to end the inning.

With Taylor’s mistake looming large, Treinen took the mound for the bottom of the inning. After Freddie Freeman struck out, Ozzie Albies singled and stole second base with Riley at the plate. He would score the winning run when Riley lined Treinen’s 0-1 slider into left field.
Los Angeles will look to tie the series behind Max Scherzer (regular season: 8-4, 2.76 ERA) tonight at 7:38 PM ET. Ian Anderson (regular season: 9-5, 3.58 ERA) will have the ball for the home team.
